The National Weather Service is working to hire back hundreds of positions laid off or otherwise cut by the Trump administration, but it’s progressing at a snail’s pace, forcing many offices to continue to cope with vacancies that could affect winter forecasts.
On Wednesday at 12:03 p.m. the National Weather Service issued an updated winter weather advisory valid from Thursday 4 a.m. until Friday 10 a.m. for East Slopes of the Oregon Cascades.
As winter weather ramps up in intensity, the National Weather Service is working to fill key roles, such as meteorologists, technical experts and scientists.
All of Massachusetts is set to be under a high wind watch or wind advisory throughout the day on Friday as a storm system passes through.
On Wednesday at 10:44 a.m. an updated winter weather advisory was released by the National Weather Service valid for Thursday between 4 a.m. and 10 a.m. for North Oregon Cascades and Cascades of Marion and Linn counties.
